New Aerial Photos Available On Marion County Assessor Beacon Website....

In March, 2009, new aerial photography was taken of all of Marion County. This imagery is now available to the public through the Assessor's Beacon website. The Rural Orthophotography covers the entire county at 12-inch resolution. The Urban Orthophotography covers selected incorporated cities and rural areas at 6-inch resolution.

This imagery was contracted by the Marion Co. Assessor with Pictometry of Rochester, New York. Pictometry also flew Marion County on an emergency basis during the flooding of 2008. For technical reasons that imagery is not able to be on the website but has been of great use by the County.

An additional part of the contract is a unique product by Pictometry called "Oblique Imagery" that shows side views of objects on the ground. While this oblique imagery is not available on the website at this time, it will be used by various County departments and other governmental entities in the county.
